Out of luck with Keyboard

UGH!
Right after typing the text above, taking images and storing away my ultra mobile TX, the keyboard stopped working with the TX. This is what I checked:
* keyboard batteries are OK
* fully recharged TX
* TX is ON infra red receive, no power save scheme
* restarted the RX, warm reset, cold reset
* reinstalled keyboard drive 1.10 from Palm
* checked cables
I'm not getting any characters when I hit a key. I'm clueless as to what happened. In previous instances where the keyboard did suddenly not work anymore, a soft restart was all that was necessary to get it going again. But now I'm out of luck.
Is there anybody who's got an idea?

In my desperation I checked whether the infra red transponder is still working. My webcam can see infra red just like this: http://henrik.nyh.se/uploads/ircam.jpg
My remote works just like the one in the picture above, but I don't see anything when I point the webcam towards the IR transmitter of the original Universal Wireless Keyboard. But then, I don't know how strong the IR light is and how fast it decays. Maybe I wouldn't see any flickering at all with the keyboard (the TV remote gives a very strong signal, though).
So, if anybody's out there with a webcam (especially with an iREZ K2) and a Universal Wireless Keyboard - could you please check whether the camera picks up a signal?
If it does I know that I need to fix that portion of my ultra mobile (but now dysfunctional) TX.

Thanks!
